What we collect

SnapBee stores the following data to provide its core functionality:

Account data

When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive and store the following from your identity provider so we can authenticate you and sync your household across devices:

If you sign in with Apple, we additionally store an Apple refresh token server-side so that we can revoke your Apple session when you delete your account, as required by the App Store. The refresh token is deleted immediately after revocation.

If you use “Continue as guest” we create an anonymous Firebase user ID only; no email or name is collected until you later sign in.

Who can see your data

Your data is only accessible to members of your household. When you invite someone by sharing an invite link from Settings → Invite family member, anyone who opens that link and signs in can join your household and see the shared data (receipts, inventory, and recipes). Receipt photos are not displayed to household members — they are retained only so our support team can review scans if you report a problem. We recommend sharing invite links only with trusted family members.

How we use your data

AI receipt analysis

When you scan a receipt, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. The image is used solely to extract item and pricing information and is not stored by Anthropic beyond the API request. No personal information is included in the API request beyond the receipt image itself.

Feedback & error logs

If you submit feedback through the app, your message, display name, and group name are stored so we can review and improve the app. Error logs are collected automatically to help diagnose and fix bugs. These are reviewed only by the app developer.

Data storage

All structured data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore). Receipt photos are stored in Firebase Storage. Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication. All data is transmitted over HTTPS and protected by Firebase's security infrastructure.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (see below), all account data, group data, and receipt photos you own are removed within 30 days. Error logs are retained for up to 90 days for debugging purposes.

Account and data deletion

You have two ways to delete your account and data:

Individual inventory items and expense entries can also be deleted directly within the app without removing your account.

Children's privacy

SnapBee is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced in-app.
